"Lauren is going into the final selection match for the Olympic team in a good position in the women's air rifle event," Army head rifle coach Web Wright said. "There's a very real chance that she could make this team with the great performance that she is capable of."
Ā
Kutz ranks 37th going into this weekend, following a combined mark of 1231.6. Ā
Ā
"Kaitlyn has been shooting strong lately, too," Wright said about his junior captain. "Over the past couple of months, she is consistently our best air rifle shooter and has the potential to make it through the qualification round and into the final eight elimination phase of the selection match."
"Coach Leighton Dempster will be taking them down to the tryout so I can focus on the rest of the team as we gear up for NCAA Qualification," Wright added. "Kaitlyn and Lauren are in capable hands. They know what they need to do. I have confidence that they will make a great impact in that match."
Ā
The 10-ranked Black Knights' next competition is set for Feb. 22 as the team hosts the NCAA Qualification match.
