Rifle Wins NCAA Qualification Match Over MIT and Coast Guard

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point Rifle team hosted the NCAA Qualification match Saturday at the Tronsrue Marksmanship center. Also competing in the match were MIT and Coast Guard.
With an aggregate total of 4661, Army posted the highest score of the three teams competing. Coast Guard had an aggregate score of 4569, while MIT posted a 4342.

The Black Knights will compete in the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships next weekend from Feb. 28-29 in Memphis, Tenn.

- Army had the four highest aggregate scores with Kaitlyn Kutz posting the match's high score of 1176.
- Behind Kutz in the top four were Clayton Hanson (1171), Lauren McMahan (1158) and Nicholas Cheshire (1156).
- The freshmen duo of Ashley Clegg (1135) and Emily Gay (1130) cracked the top-10 taking eighth and ninth, respectively.
AIR RIFLE: (2348)
- Kutz had the high score in air rifle with a mark of 593.
- McMahan took second with a score of 588, while Hanson claimed third with a 587.
- Cheshire's 580 was tied for the sixth highest score.
SMALLBORE: (2313)
- Hanson's 584 was the highest mark of the match. Close behind was Kutz who had a score of 583.
- Cheshire posted the third highest score with a 576, while McMahan's 570 was good for fourth place. .
