Hot Second Half Leads Black Knights to 75-55 win over Loyola

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army women's basketball trailed by three points entering halftime, but outscored Loyola 54-31 in the second half to earn a 75-55 victory over the Greyhounds on Wednesday night in Christl Arena.
The Black Knights shot just 8-for-23 (34.8 percent) in the first half, but were lights out in the second, shooting 19-for-37 (51.4 percent) from the floor. Army additionally got 29 points from its bench.
Alisa Fallon and Hope Brown each led the team with 16 points apiece, while Fallon added 12 rebounds to give her a double-double. Natalie Stralkus chipped in 15 points and was 5-for-8 from 3-point range.

- Army made 13 3-pointers, marking its fifth game with double-digit makes from three this season.
- Overall seven different Cadets connected from 3-point range.
- The 20-point win for the Black Knights is their largest margin of victory over an opponent this season. The previous high was a 13-point win over Holy Cross on Jan. 15.
- Army's 75 points is the most since scoring 93 at Colgate on Jan. 5.
- Stralkus' 15 points and five three-pointers are both career highs for the sophomore.
- The East Brunswick, N.J., native has reached double-digit scoring in three of Army's last six games. Entering the stretch, she had just two career games scoring in double figures.
- The double-double for Fallon marked her third this season.
- This was also Fallon's 17th game reaching double-digit scoring.
- Brown registered her eighth double-digit scoring effort of the season.
- Sarah Bohn matched her career high with five assists.
- Not only did the Black Knights shoot the ball at a high percentage in the second half, but they also took care of it. After surrendering 14 turnovers in the opening stanza, Army had just five miscues in the second half.
- Twelve of Army's first 14 points came via the 3-ball as Scamman, Yancey, Hall and Stralkus each hit from downtown. Though it was Loyola that jumped out to a 18-14 lead after the first quarter.
- Both teams struggled to find points with the Black Knights outscoring the Greyhounds, 7-6, in the second quarter.
- Loyola took a 24-21 lead into halftime despite Army holding the Greyhounds to 1-15 shooting in the second quarter.
- Army trailed by 12 points, 39-27, with 4:02 to go in the third quarter. That would be a start of a 14-0 run for the Black Knights.
- Twelve of Army's 14 points came on four 3-point field goals. Stralkus contributed three of those while Bohn made the other. Then with Loyola up 44-42 with three seconds to go in the third quarter, Stralkus hit her fourth three of the frame to give the Black Knights a 45-44 edge entering the fourth quarter.
- Thanks to a 6-0 run for the Black Knights, Army was able to get its lead up to 10 points, 60-50. From there, the home team strung together another big run, 14-3, with Fallon netting the first 11 of those 14 points. Army led 72-53 with 1:39 to go.
