Smith Lands Pitcher of the Week Honors After Gem vs. Duke
February 18, 2020 | Baseball
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After a shutdown performance in Army West Point baseball's opening night win over #15 Duke, senior pitcher Logan Smith has been named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week.Â
The senior was dominant in his first outing of the year, going seven strong innings with just one hit allowed and a career-high 10 strikeouts. Smith held the Blue Devils hitless over his final 6.0 innings pitched, allowing just a leadoff single in the second inning.Â
The win was Army's first over a ranked opponent since the team defeated #11 North Carolina State in the 2018 NCAA Regional. This marks the first league honor for the righthander.Â
Smith and the rest of the Black Knights will return to action this weekend in a three-game series at Texas A&M.Â
