Army Completes Season Sweep of Lafayette; Bests Leopards, 65-48

WEST POINT, N.Y. – With four Cadets scoring in double figures, the Army West Point men's basketball team worked its way back into the win column following a 65-48 Patriot League home victory over Lafayette on Wednesday night.
With the win, the Black Knights (12-12, 7-6 Patriot League) completed the regular season series sweep for the second consecutive season over the Leopards (15-9, 7-6 Patriot League).
Army was dominant on the glass, holding a 49-33 advantage against Lafayette. Matt Wilson played a major role that department, finishing with a game-high 13 boards. The senior ended his night with a double-double after going 10-of-17 from the floor with a game-high 20 points to pair with his rebounding total.
Josh Caldwell also provided a lift on the boards, reeling in a career-high 11. The second-year guard came away with a double-double as well after he finished with 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting. He additionally had success distributing the ball, handing out six helpers without recording a single turnover.
Tommy Funk and Alex King combined for 24 points after pouring in 12 apiece. Funk had a game-high seven assists and six boards to go with his scoring output.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wilson was the focal point for Army in the opening half and the senior captain delivered 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting. It was King who was off to the hot start though after he put in five early points to help the Cadets jump out to an 8-2 advantage.
- It turned into a back-and-forth battle for the remainder of the half. With Lafayette being held scoreless for over a three-minute stretch, Army went on a 6-0 run in the final 2:43 to take a 31-23 lead into the break.
- The Black Knights struck first in the second stanza and a Funk 3-pointer gave Army a double-digit lead, 34-23. Lafayette worked to climb back into the game and evened the score at 39-39 after a 16-5 run that lasted just over five minutes.
- The score did not remain tied for long though as the Cadets got into a rhythm on both ends of the floor. Over the final 13:20 of play, Army went 11-of-20 (55%) from the field and 4-of-7 (57%) from long range as part of a 26-9 run to seal the home win. During that stretch, Lafayette was 4-of-22 (18%) from the field with no makes from distance on 10 tries.
