Army Defeated By Rival Navy In Star Meet

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Army West Point gymnastics team was defeated by rival Navy by a score of 404.400-380.900 in the annual Army-Navy Star Meet.

Navy claimed six apparatus victories to claim the Star and advance the Naval Academy's lead to 8-3-1 in the 2019-20 Star Series presented by USAA.

Sophomore Mathew Davis posted a career-high pommel horse score of 12.700. He followed his career-high parallel bars score of 13.800 at Springfield by beating his previous career mark again with a 13.500.

The Black Knights will see Navy again when the teams return to action next weekend in San Antonio, Texas, for the All-Academy Championships.

HIGHLIGHTS AND NOTES:

Senior Erik Del Cid posted the team's high score on floor exercise with a mark of 12.700.
Davis' career-high 13.700 on pommel was the best on the squad.
Darrel Yamamura led the way on rings with a 13.000
Del Cid (14.100) and Corban Barstow (14.000) were Army's only pair of 14+ scorers on the day with their performances on vault.
Davis was the leader on p-bars as well, recording a 13.500.
Rex Scott added a 12.850 to lead on high bar to end the day for Army.
