RESULTS
WEST POINT, N.Y. ā The No. 5 Army West Point rifle team fell to No. 6 Air Force in a silver star match, 5849-5832, Saturday at the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center.

The match used the service academy scoring system, which counts the top five scores of eight selected scorers. Using the NCAA scoring system Air Force would have claimed the match by a score of 4694-4679.

Junior Lauren McMahan matched the program's record with a score of 597, a mark that she had already shot once before. The Sarasota, Fla., native finished with the second highest aggregate total of the day with a total mark of 1175.

"This was just another training experience to learn from. I know we still have a lot in us and I'm excited to see our progress throughout the season," McMahan said.

- McMahan's mark of 1175 led the team, while Clayton Hanson posted the second highest aggregate tally with 1172.
- Freshman Anusha Pakkam had the third highest score with a mark of 1164. Close behind Pakkam was Nicholas Cheshire at 1162.
- Air Force's Peter Fiori had the best mark of the day with a tally of 1181.

- Pakkam posted the highest smallbore mark for Army with a total of 580, her best score of the season. The freshman shot 397/400 in slings.
- McMahan had the Black Knights' second highest total with 578, while Hanson shot a 577.
- Cheshire (576) and Kaitlyn Kutz (569) rounded out the scoring for the Cadets.
- Fiori held the high score for the match with a tally of 588.
AIR RIFLE: Army 2952, Air Force 2946 (Service Academy) | Army 2368, Air Force 2364 (NCAA)
- For the second time in her career, McMahan shot a 597 in air rifle. She previous set the mark at the NCAA Qualifying Match during her freshman year. McMahan holds a share of the program record with Stephen Scherer, Chris Abalo, Payne Nunn and Kaitlyn Kutz.
- Hanson posted the match's next highest score with a mark of 595, which represented a new career high.
- Army's third highest score belonged to Kutz, who finished with a tally of 590.
- Cheshire (586) and Pakkam (584) closed out the Army scoring.
- Fiori and Morgan Kreb had the Falcons' highest scores with each registering marks of 593.
