Giachin Named Preseason All-American
January 22, 2020 | Baseball
The Livingston, N.J., native posted gaudy offensive numbers in his second year at the Academy, leading the Patriot League with 67 runs batted in and climbing to the top of the Army all-time list in single season multi-hit games (25) and doubles (25). He was second on the team with a .316 batting average and was named to the 2019 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-Region First Team after the season.
He earned two Patriot League Player of the Week honors and was named a 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for his success in the classroom.Â
Giachin becomes the first Black Knight to receive a national pre-season nod since SP Chris Rowley in 2013.Â
The Black Knights will kick off the 2020 season with a three game series at Duke Feb. 14-16.
