Army Falls to Penn State in First Dual Meet

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Army West Point gymnastics team was defeated by Penn State on Saturday in the team's first dual meet of the season.Â
The Cadets were in contention early, as Matt Martin recorded a career-best 14.200 on pommel horse which was the top score posted by any athlete in the meet. But Penn State was able to gain control as the event went on, ultimately winning the meet 390.350-372.600.
Sophomore Mathew Davis posted the top all-around score by outpointing Penn State's Brennan Pantazis 76.450-74.750. He added the meet's top score on parallel bars with a 13.200. It marks the second consecutive event this season in which Davis has topped the parallel bars leaderboard.

- Senior Alejandro Suarez placed in the top five in two disciplines, finishing third on vault (14.050) and fifth on horizontal bar (12.550)
