Davis Named AWPAA Athlete of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Following his performance at this weekend's West Point Open, sophomore Mathew Davis has been named Army West Point Athletic Association Athlete of the Week.Â
On Saturday, Davis became Army's first ever parallel bars champion at the West Point Open and the first Cadet to win an individual apparatus at the event since Conner Venrick won the pommel horse in 2014.Â
He was equally strong in Friday's qualifying rounds, recording the top score in floor exercise.Â
Davis will look to continue his strong start when the Black Knights return to action on Saturday Jan. 18 at Penn State.Â
