McGraw Drafted by Portland in MLS SuperDraft

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Senior defender Zac McGraw made history for the Army West Point men's soccer program when he became the first-ever cadet to be drafted in the MLS SuperDraft.
McGraw was the 16th pick in the third round (68th overall) and selected by the Portland Timbers, a club that finished sixth in the Western Conference this past season with an overall record of 34-14-7.
"Zac is one of Army's finest men's soccer players," Army head coach Russell Payne said. "Congrats to him for an incredible college career and earning an opportunity to pursue his dreams."
A two-year captain on the back line for the Black Knights, McGraw made a name for himself in the league and around the nation. He was a two-time Preseason MAC Hermann Trophy Watchlist player, a three-time all United Soccer Coaches All-Region performer, a four-time All-Patriot League standout and a one-time league defensive player of the year.
During his time on the banks of the Hudson, McGraw appeared in 68 games while making 66 starts. He tallied 11 career points on one goal and nine assists. As a defensive stalwart, McGraw played a pivotal role in the Black Knights' 21 shutouts.
His efforts as a junior in 2018 helped the program reach its first Patriot League Tournament championship appearance since 1996 after he led the Black Knights' defense to back-to-back clean sheets in the Patriot League Tournament for the first time in program history. As a sophomore he was a key piece in Army's first-ever win over a PAC-12 foe once the Black Knights bested San Diego State during the 2017 season.
