WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Athletics has announced the installation of a new, state-of-the-art Daktronics videoboard in the north end zone of Michie Stadium.
Â
With the ongoing installation, the north end zone videoboard will not be complete for the opening game against Rice on Aug. 30, while the ribbon board and south end zone display will be operational. The main videoboard is set to debut for the Morgan State game on Sept. 21.
Â
"We're excited to bring this great new capability to Michie Stadium and our Army fans. This is a significant upgrade and we believe it will greatly enhance the fan experience at all of our games and other events hosted at Michie Stadium" stated Mike Buddie, Army West Point Director of Athletics. "It is unfortunate that we could not meet our original timeline for the completion of the new video board, but we want to install the board correctly and make sure it will be safe and secure for years to come.  I am excited to see the new board in action for the Morgan State game and hope the action on the field for the Home opener will keep Army fans engaged the entire evening."
Â
The new videoboard stretches 3,100 square feet, is more than three times bigger than the previous videoboard and will provide high-resolution imagery and new production capabilities that will enhance the game day experience for our fans.
Â
In addition to the new videoboard, Daktronics will be installing an LED ribbon board display along the upper deck that will provide supplemental content and statistics for game day fan experience. The displays measures 3.5 feet high by 396 feet in length. The final LED display will be installed in the south end zone, on top of the Kimsey Athletic Center, Â and stretches 9.5 feet high by 130 feet wide.
Â
As part of the project, an all-new sound system will be installed in Michie Stadium and Army has partnered with PrismView to overhaul its broadcast production ability to expand and enhance the content that will be presented on the new displays.
