Joyner Adds Patriot League Scholar-Athlete Honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Sophomore Ana Joyner of the Army West Point women's tennis team was named the 2019 Patriot League Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Joyner recently earned her second player of the year nod on Friday prior to the team's 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament at No. 10 Washington. She became the first Cadet to earn Patriot League Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in the same season.
The Las Cruces, N.M., native boasts a 3.619 grade-point average as a Systems Engineering major. Joyner remained a constant in the top singles flight for the Black Knights, posting an overall record of 18-13 in singles action. She went 2-0 in the Patriot League Tournament at the No. 1 position with wins over Navy in the semifinals and Boston U. in the championship match. Joyner moved into a tie for sixth in program history with Allyson Toce with 21 wins as the No. 1 singles position.
