Giachin, Hurtubise Named Academic All-District

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point sophomore Anthony Giachin and junior Jacob Hurtubise were named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All District® Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Both are now eligible for Google Cloud Academic All-America® honors, with the first and second teams being announced in June.
Giachin boasts an impressive 4.04 GPA in Mechanical Engineering, while Hurtubise holds a 3.68 GPA in Operations Research.
Giachin etched his name into the program's record book earlier this year when he broke Army's single-season doubles mark (19) against Lafayette on May 6th. The sophomore currently leads the Patriot League in hits (69), runs batted in (61), and doubles (22).
Hurtubise is tops in the league with a .363 batting average and has 65 hits and five doubles to his name this season. The Zionsville, Ind., native also leads the conference with a .536 on-base percentage, 65 runs scored, 63 walks, and 40 stolen bases.
