Hovren Earns All-Met Accolades for Third Time
April 26, 2019 | Women's Basketball
Hovren was selected to the first team for the third-straight year and finishes her career with six postseason award citations between the MBWA and the Patriot League.
Hovren finished the season as the Patriot League leader in scoring and rebounding. The senior averaged 19.1 points per game and grabbed 13.1 boards per contest. She reached double digits in 24-straight games to finish out her career and scored over 20 points in each of her last six outings.
She became Army's all-time leader in rebounds in a single season by recording 394 in 30 games played during her senior campaign.
The forward also became the third player in school history to reach 1,000 rebounds in a career after grabbing 11 against Navy on Feb. 16. She is only the second player in Army history to reach 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. The Spokane, Wash., native passed Erin Anthony for second all-time in rebounds and capped her career with 1,071 boards.
Hovren is Army's all-time leader in double-doubles with 56 in her career and had 23 of them in the 30 games played during the 2018-19 season.
"Madison is one the most productive players I've coached during my 43-year career," Army head coach Dave Magarity said. "Her numbers are remarkable considering her size primarily competing as a post player. She finishes her career as one of the all-time bests at Army West Point."
Hovren will be honored on Tuesday night, along with the other winners, at the All-Met Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott.
