Accessing West Point on Wednesday

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Anyone planning to visit West Point on Wednesday should be aware that the U.S. Military Academy will be conducting a day-long emergency drill.

Federal, state and local emergency vehicles, including police cars, fire trucks and ambulances, will participate in the drill.

The annual force protection exercise will result in intermittent road closures and other delays.

This exercise will not affect game times for the baseball and softball contests on Wednesday and both are on as scheduled. Fans can watch the 3:30 p.m. baseball game against Marist on Patriot League Network, while fans can follow along with the softball doubleheader versus Rider via live stats, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The purpose of the drill is to provide West Point leaders, tenant organizations on post, first responders and off-post mutual aid organizations with data to help them assess their emergency plans and procedures. Results will show them where there might be room for improvement.
