On Point: A Call to Service
April 18, 2019 | General, Women's Tennis
Cadets are constantly training how to best serve in the U.S. Army throughout their 47-month journey at West Point. For some, however, the call to service does not end there. Melanie Allen of the Army West Point women's tennis team came to the U.S. Military Academy with the purpose of serving others.Â
Whether it be adults, children or any number of different varieties of people, one of Allen's greatest motivators when deciding to attend USMA was the ability to serve in multiple capacities. During her four years at Army, she has taken three seven-day trips to the Dominican Republic to provide assistance to those who are less fortunate. Upon her return stateside, she is always amazed at how much the Dominicans have impacted her outlook on life more so than what she was able to do for them.Â
