Strong Pitching, Timely Hitting Helps Army Earn Win
March 27, 2019 | Baseball
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Army West Point baseball team defeated Siena, 6-1, here Wednesday afternoon in a midweek out-of-conference matchup.
The Black Knights scored three runs early and never really looked back. Siena cut into the deficit in the third with one run on three hits but two additional runs for the visitors in the sixth ultimately put the game away. The Cadets added one final run in the ninth to close things out.
Five of Army's six runs in the game came with two outs. Blake Ledoux and Jacob Hurtubise recorded timely hits when they both converted on two-out RBI-singles. Ledoux accounted for all three of the Black Knights' runs in the opening frame, before Hurtubise followed suit in the sixth by bringing home two runs with his hit.
With all Army pitchers on an innings limit, starter Ray Bartoli notched the win after going 2.1 innings allowing three hits and one run.
