Army Falls to Boston University on Senior Day

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point women's basketball team honored its two seniors, but Boston University came away with the 67-42 win on Saturday afternoon at Christl Arena.
Madison Hovren finished the game with her 54th career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Jess Lewis had 11 points on Senior Day.
Boston University saw four players reach double digits with Payton Hauck adding 19 points, six rebounds and six assists. Lauren Spearman recorded 15 points, while Katie Nelson had 11 points and Nia Irving posted 10.
Army is going to be hosting a first round game next Saturday in the Patriot League Tournament with the opponent still to be announced this week. The game will be at 1 p.m. at Christl Arena and tickets are now available, here.

- The Black Knights honored Lewis and Hovren prior to the game and also its practice players that have been with the program for multiple seasons.
- This was the 16th meeting between Army and Boston University and the Black Knights' lead is down to 9-7 in the series.
- The Terriers swept the season series and Army is now 5-4 against Boston University at home in the series.
- Lewis has now started in 30 straight games dating back to last season, which is a career high.
- Lewis continues to climb the all-time single-season assist list with 141 after to today and is sixth on the list.
- She is ninth on the career assists list with 263.
- Hovren reached double-digit scoring for the 27th time this season and 82nd time in her career.
- She added her 21st double-double of the year and 54th of her career, adding to her Army record.
- She has scored in double digits in 23-straight games, which is a career best.
- Hovren recorded 20 or more points in a game for the 12th time this season and 30th time in her career.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- It was a slow start for the Black Knights and the Terriers took advantage with an 18-6 lead at the end of one period.
- Hovren had all of Army's six first quarter points, while Boston University had six players on the scoresheet.
- Army couldn't get the Boston University lead down to single digits heading into the half and was down 34-20 at the break.
- Lewis had 11 first-half points and was 3-of-5 from distance, while Hovren added seven points and seven rebounds.
- The Terriers kept attacking the Black Knights in the third quarter and opened up a 23-point lead at 47-24 with 4:42 on the clock thanks to a 13-4 run to start the frame.
- Army closed the gap to 19 points heading into the fourth with the Terriers leading 54-35.
- Army could only score seven points in the final frame and closed out the home regular season schedule with a 67-42 loss.
