How It Happened
- Stony Brook broke the game open in a big way during the second when it registered five runs on three hits and one error. The Seawolves led-off the frame reaching on an error and earning a walk to place runners on first and second. After Army sat the next two batters down, the visitor's went yard to bring home their first three runs. A single and another home run during the next two at bats extended the lead to 5-0.
- The Seawolves increased their advantage to 7-0 after notching two runs on four hits in the top of the third.
- The Black Knights responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half to cut into the deficit at 7-2. Hurtubise and Titus found themselves on first and second, respectively, with one out. The two then used a double steal to advance up a base before Hurtubise scored during that same play thanks to a throwing error. Titus also shifted to third on the play. Giachin followed that up with an RBI-double to bring Titus home.
- The visitor's made it a 10-2 ballgame when they recorded their second three-run home run of the game in the top of the fifth.
- Stony Brook increased its edge again in the seventh when it notched a leadoff solo home run to left center.
- Another long ball was given up by the Black Knights in the top of the eighth when Chris Hamilton went yard for a leadoff solo shot. The Seawolves then closed out their scoring with an RBI groundout a few batters later to build their lead to 13-2.
- Army trimmed that lead to 13-3 with a run on two hits in the bottom of the eighth. Regine led-off the frame with a double down the left field line to get a runner in scoring position. After a Ritter walk placed runners on the corners, Macias singled to shortstop to score the Cadets' third run of the game.
- The Black Knights tacked on one final run in the ninth when Williams sparked a small two-out rally with a single through the left side. Regine then doubled to left center to score the rookie from first.
