Army’s Season Ends in AHA Quarterfinals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Army West Point hockey team's season came to a close Sunday night in game three of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament Quarterfinals.
The Black Knights fell to American International 4-1 in the season finale.

- The game was tilted early in favor of the Yellow Jackets as they received the first three power play opportunities of the game.
- After holding AIC scoreless on the man advantage for 13-straight attempts this weekend, the Yellow Jackets finally netted a score.
- The goal came at the 13:44 minute mark in the first period.
- In the second period, Eric Butte was setup for an opportunity by Zach Evancho and Dominic Franco but could not get the puck past Zackarias Skog.
- Army's power play unit was put to the test for the first time halfway through the second stanza.
- Brendan Soucie had a breakaway with 6:14 to go in the middle period, but his shot deflected off Skog's shoulder.
- The Yellow Jackets scored two minutes after to increase their lead to 2-0.
- AIC netted its third goal of the game on a bizarre play where the puck was passed from behind the net but happened to trickle past the goal line.
- Knowing it had to make things happen, Army played an aggressive offensive style and it paid off.
- With 5:22 to go, Butte trapped the puck as AIC was trying to clear it and got it off to Evancho who was able to set MacAfee up for the Black Knight goal.
- Yellow Jackets sealed the victory with a goal at the 17:10 mark.
