Lewis Named to Academic All-Patriot League Team

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Senior women's basketball captain Jess Lewis was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team for her tireless work on and off the court.

Lewis was one of five members of the team and she earned the honor for the first time in her career.

Voting for the Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League team is conducted by the League's women's basketball sports information directors.
Â
She has a 3.83 grade point average as a Life Sciences major at West Point and also contributes to the Academy in many ways. She is the Brigade Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Officer at West Point as well as the Patriot League SAAC Officer. She was named to the Dean's List every semester as a cadet and has been named a distinguished cadet as well.

Lewis will attend medical school following graduation with aspirations of becoming a doctor.

On the court, Lewis led the Patriot League in assists with 155 for an average of 5.2 per game. The 155 helpers were a career high for the guard and she averaged 8.3 points per game. She was a reliable player on the court as she played an average of 34 minutes a game. Â

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshman or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
