Kirk Named AWPAA Athlete Of The Week

WEST POINT - After setting a program record in Army West Point men's track and field's Star Meet victory over service-academy rival Navy, sophomore Geoff Kirk has been named AWPAA Athlete of the Week.Â
Kirk set the program record for men's shot put for the second consecutive week, posting a distance of 17.94m.Â
Prior to Kirk's record breaking performance on Saturday, he broke Duance Fuller's 1979 record of 17.41m with a throw of 17.49m at the Penn State National Open.Â
The Avon, Conn., native will look to carry his success into the Patriot League Championships which begin on February 16.Â
