Jefferson Receives Patriot League Honors
February 05, 2019 | Men's Track and Field
WEST POINT - After posting a league leading time in Army's Star Meet victory over Navy, sophomore Kedrin Jefferson was named Patriot League Male Track Athlete of the Week.Â
The Memphis, Tenn., native followed up his program record setting performance in the 200m dash at the Penn State National Open with a nationally charting mark in the Army-Navy Star Meet.
"Kedrin has really started to master the 200m event," head coach Mike Smith said. "He has reached a level of consistency now that places him among the better runners in the NCAA."Â
Jefferson's adjusted time of 21.12 is the top time recorded in the Patriot League this season and ranks 34th nationally.Â
"There is still room for him to improve," Smith said. "I think we will be talking about him and his superlatives for the rest of the winter and into the spring."
This marks the fourth time this season that a Black Knight has claimed the weekly honor for men's track. Junior Tyrell Maddox has won two weekly awards and freshman Justin Young received the honor following the Keydet Invitational.
