February 26, 2019 | Wrestling
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point wrestling team captured the dual crown amongst all teams in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) following the team's 22-10 victory over service-academy rival Navy on Saturday.
The Black Knights closed out the season with a 7-1 conference record, good enough for an EIWA-best .875 winning percentage.
Eight of Army's 10 starters are ranked in the NWCA Coaches' Panel, led by senior Rocco Caywood who is ranked sixth at 197 pounds. Junior 174-pounder Ben Harvey owns a team-best 24-6 record, while rookie 141-pounder Corey Shie's 15 bonus point wins are tops on the team.
The Black Knights begin their postseason at the EIWA Championships, hosted by Binghamton, on March 8-9.
