Lehigh Stops Army's Win Streak

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to a close on Saturday night as Lehigh earned the 55-46 victory in Patriot League action at Stabler Arena.
The Black Knights slide back to seventh in the league standings with its loss tonight and Colgate's win over Loyola.
Madison Hovren finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds for her 19th double-double of the season. She was 6-of-14 from the floor and 9-of-13 at the line. Kate Murray recorded another double-digit game with 11 points and four rebounds. Army shot 31.5 percent from the field and committed 19 turnovers.
Lehigh had three players in double figures with Camryn Buhr and Clair Steele leading the way with 14 apiece. Hailey Pascoe had 13 points and was 3-of-10 from beyond-the-arc in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- Lehigh jumped out to an early 9-2 lead in the first five minutes as Army hit only one of its first seven shots from the field.
- The Mountain Hawks increased their lead to 17-6 thanks to five quick points from Steele and then Morgann Yancey cut the lead to eight with a 3-pointer from the left wing and the quarter ended with the Black Knights down 17-9.
- There were not a lot of points scored in the second quarter, but Lehigh extended its lead to 26-11 with a 9-2 run to start the frame with Buhr hitting a pair of layups, while Pascoe got on the board with a three.
- Army tried to take advantage of the home squad turning the ball over on five-straight trips down the floor, but only cut the lead down to 28-15 at the half. Hovren led the Black Knights with six points at the break.
- Army got the Lehigh lead down to 10 points with a Murray layup and an and-1 from Hovren to make it 30-20 with 7:50 on the clock. Pascoe then answered with a three and Hannah Hedstrom hit a layup to get it back to a 15-point lead.
- The Black Knights battled back to get it down to 10 points with another Murray layup and a 3-pointer by Lewis, but Lehigh closed out the quarter on a 7-2 run and had a 42-27 lead after three.
- Hovren got Army to single digits with 10 straight points and outscored the Mountain Hawks 10-2 over a five-minute stretch and with 2:22 remaining Army was down nine at 46-37.
- The Lehigh lead was too much to overcome in the last two minutes of the game as the Mountain Hawks hit their free throws and put the game out of reach for the 55-46 win.

- The Black Knights are on the road this coming Wednesday for a huge game with tournament seeding at stake as Army heads to Colgate for an 8:30 p.m. tip.
