December 04, 2019 | Baseball
PHILADELPHIA – Army West Point baseball, in conjunction with the Philadelphia Phillies, announced today that Army and Navy will play a weekend series at Citizens Bank Park this spring.
Â
There will be a single game played on Friday, April 10 at 7 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11 beginning at 1 p.m. Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
Â
"It's an honor for the Phillies to host one of the most iconic rivalries in sports at Citizens Bank Park," said Phillies' President Andy MacPhail. "In addition to being able to support the city of Philadelphia's historic engagement with this rivalry, we look forward to welcoming both the Cadets and Midshipmen to our home as they take the field as part of this historic event."
Â
"We are so excited to partner with the Philadelphia Phillies organization on this series," said Army West Point Director of Athletics Mike Buddie. "Our cadets will be treated like major league players and compete in an incredible ballpark while creating memories which will last for a lifetime."
"We are very thankful to the Philadelphia Phillies organization and to all those who have worked hard to make this possible," said head coach Jim Foster. "This is a tremendous opportunity to play on a great stage and be a part of one of the greatest rivalries in sports. The talent, competitiveness and most importantly the character of both teams will be on display for all to see and for these future leaders of our country, they will walk away with some lifelong memories. Thank you again to all who have made this possible."
Â
This will be the first ever Army-Navy baseball series played in the city of Philadelphia. In addition to the Army-Navy football game, the city of Philadelphia also hosts the annual Army-Navy Cup in men's soccer.
