Rugby East Announces Fall Awards

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Several Army West Point men's rugby players were recognized by D1A Rugby East over the weekend, as the league announced its fall season awards.
Senior Marco Carrabotta led the way by being named Forward of the Year, as well as earning a spot on the First Team All-Conference list. Also joining Carrabotta on the First Team was junior Luke Haug.
Four Cadets earned spots on the Second Team -- Collin Grosse, Drew Dunham, Maxwell Sackett, and Jason Green.
"We're proud of the hard work of all of these players have put in to earn recognition for their performances this fall, and to their teammates who helped put them in a position to be successful," said head coach Matt Sherman. "Additionally, we'd like to congratulate all the award winners throughout Rugby East for their performances this fall and making Rugby East one of the most competitive, high performing, and challenging conferences in the country."
Carrabotta paced the Black Knights throughout the fall season, finishing with a team leading 11 tries. The Chester, Va. native's 55 points also led the team.
Haug, Sackett, and Green all finished the fall with one try respectively. Grosse and Dunham both dotted three tries.
Army finished the fall season on a four-game win streak and went 6-4 overall with a 3-2 record in league play. The Black Knights will continue their 15s season when play resumes in the spring.
