Kirk, Mikoud Receive League Weekly Honors
December 10, 2019 | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Following their performances in the season opening Crowell Open, junior Geoff Kirk and sophomore Emily Mikoud have been named Patriot League Field Athletes of the Week for their respective sports.Â
Kirk made Army history in the meet, posting the first 18 meter shot put throw in program history. The Avon, Conn., native broke his own Academy record of 17.94 meters from a season ago. The mark tops the Patriot League charts by over a meter and is ninth in the NCAA.Â
Mikoud picked up right where she left off after her award winning freshman year, winning both the shot put (14.50m) and the weight throw (17.56m). She posted the top mark in the Patriot League in both events and topped her 2019 Patriot League Championship distances in both events.
The two will be back in action when Army hosts the West Point Open on Jan. 9 at Gillis Field House.Â
