Seniors Sent off in Style in 2-1 Win Over Terriers

WEST POINT, N.Y. – An overtime game-winning score by Sam Epitime highlighted the senior day festivities for the Army West Point men's soccer team on Wednesday night as the Black Knights bested Boston U., 2-1, at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.
Epitime had himself a day on the pitch for Army (5-7-4, 2-4-3 Patriot League), not only scoring his first career goal, but tallying the game-winner as well to cap his rookie campaign. The freshman had some help though as Keenan O'Shea, D'Anthony Brown and Jake Burgess each posted an assist.
The Black Knights held the slight edge in shots over the opposing Terriers (4-12-1, 3-6-0 Patriot League), 11-10. Army also generated six corners compared to four for Boston U.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Epitime became the first freshman to record a multi-goal outing since Sam Millikan netted two against Holy Cross on Oct. 28, 2018.
- O'Shea tallied his fourth helper of the year.
- The senior finished with 60 points on 23 goals and 14 assists in his career.
- He ended his four-year career tied for seventh all-time in points, sixth in goals scored and tied for ninth in assists.
- Brown recorded his first collegiate point on his assist.
- Burgess handed out his second helper of the season.
- Army played in six overtime contests this year.
- They went 2-0-4 in those six outings.
- It was the 10th time this season that the Cadets outshot their opponent.
- The Black Knights notched double-digit shots for the 13th time this season.
- Army picked up its fourth all-time win versus the Terriers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 54th minute, O'Shea ripped a cross into the box on the ground that was loose before Epitime charged in and fired a shot into the back of the net for his first collegiate score.
- The Terriers had an answer and in the 69th minute when Florian Rieder found the back of the net off the assists from Jacopo Ambrosetti and Keri Pertursson.
- Just under six minutes into the first overtime period, Brown threw the ball into Burgess and the sophomore sent the ball into the box. Epitime was waiting on the far post and headed it into the lower left corner to seal the 2-1 victory for Army.
