Black Knights Fall to Air Force in Home Tilt

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Despite a career night from Tucker Blackwell, the Army West Point men's basketball team fell to service-academy foe Air Force, 69-57, on Tuesday night at Christl Arena.
Blackwell was electric for the Black Knights (1-2) in their second home game of the season, pouring in a career-best 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field. The junior guard also knocked down four 3-pointers and reeled in four boards against the Falcons (2-1).
Matt Wilson also reached double-digit scoring on the night and the Alexandria, Ky., native came away with his first double-double of the season. He finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds, which were both season highs.

- Army scored 67 percent of its points from inside the paint.
- The Black Knights scored 18 points off 14 Air Force turnovers.
- Army assisted on 58 percent of its made shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the red-hot Blackwell leading the charge, the Black Knights got out to a 10-0 lead. The junior guard was responsible for eight of the team's 10 points in the opening 3:14 of play. However, Air Force began to chip into the early deficit and used a 13-5 run to grab a 22-19 advantage with 6:43 on the clock in the first half.
- The two sides traded baskets for the remainder of the stanza, but it was the Falcons who went into the half up by three, 29-26.
- It turned into a back-and-forth battle for much of the second half until Air Force got into a groove offensively. With 9:38 left to play, the Falcons outscored the Cadets, 24-11, to seal the 69-57 victory.
