Rifle Drops Road Match to Ole Miss

OXFORD, MISS. – The eighth-ranked Army West Point rifle team fell to seventh-ranked Ole Miss, 4664-4645, in its first contest of the season.

"We were a bit lower than I was anticipating," said head coach Web Wright. "Our kneeling was rough. We definitely will be working on it in the coming weeks."

AGGREGATE: Ole Miss 4664, Army 4645

Junior captains Clayton Hanson and Kaitlyn Kutz posted the top two aggregate scores for the Black Knights. Hanson had a total score of 1167, while Kutz had a score of 1167.
Aaron Flowers had the next highest score, as the sophomore accumulated a total mark of 1156.
The Rebels took the top two aggregate scores with Alana Kelly earning the match's top total score of 1169 and her teammate Abby Buesseler taking the second-best score with 1168.

AIR RIFLE: Ole Miss 2362, Army 2355

Kaitlyn Kutz posted the highest score in the air rifle class with a career-high mark of 597, which was five more the second place finisher.
Clayton Hanson and Aaron Flowers finished each posted scores of 587. While Lauren McMahan (584), Nick Cheshire (578) and Sawyer Williams (572) rounded out Army's scoring.

SMALLBORE: Ole Miss 2302, Army 2290

In smallbore, Hanson tied with Ole Miss's Alana Kelly for the match's highest score with a mark of 580.
Cheshire had the Cadets' next highest score with 573. Aaron Flowers (569), Kaitlyn Kutz (568), Lauren McMahan (560) and Sawyer Williams (557) completed the scoring for Army.
