Black Knights Tripped Up by Bucknell

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team fell to Bucknell, 66-52, on Wednesday night in Patriot League action at Christl Arena.

The Black Knights were led by Madison Hovren, who tallied 18 points and nine rebounds. Morgann Yancey tied her season high with 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting from beyond-the-arc.

Bucknell had four players in double figures with Kaitlyn Slagus leading the way with 16 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor. Ellie Mack tallied a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Kate Walker had 12 points and Abby Kapp added 11. Bucknell shot 44 percent from the floor and 39 percent from three-point land.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- The Black Knights were off to a great start in the first five minutes with Yancey leading the way with two 3-pointers to score six of Army's eight points as the Black Knights had an early 8-7 advantage.
- Both teams hit a lull in scoring in the final five minutes and Bucknell had a 13-10 advantage after the opening quarter.
- The Bison built a 10-point lead at 22-12 with 5:55 left in the second quarter thanks to a 9-2 run to start the frame. Slagus had six-straight points and Mack hit a three to start the run.
- The hot shooting continued for the Bison in the quarter and they finished with a 20-4 advantage in the period and led 33-14 at the half.
- Hovren tried to get Army back in the game with seven points in the first five minutes of the third, but Bucknell answered with buckets on its end of the floor and remained in the lead at 47-23 at the 4:52 mark of the third.
- The Black Knights cut the lead to 51-33 at the end of the third thanks to four points from Scamman and Hovren. Hovren had 16 points and eight boards heading into the final period.
- Army got back in the game with a 13-3 run over four minutes in the fourth that cut Bucknell's lead to 11 at 61-50 at the 1:59 mark, but the visitors closed out the game for the 66-52 victory.
