Cadets Suffer Setback to RPI in Overtime

TROY, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team dropped a non-conference contest to RPI on Saturday night in overtime.

The Engineers rallied with 20 seconds left in the third to tie the game and force extra time. RPI scored 1:16 into overtime to win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brendan Soucie broke the tie game at the end of the second period.
- With help from Colin Bilek, he muscled the puck away from an RPI defender in the right corner and fired a shot to the top left corner for the score with 4:49 left in the frame.
- The Engineers pulled their netminder with two minutes remaining in the third stanza and scored with 20 seconds remaining in regulation with the extra skater to force overtime.
- Then with 1:16 into the overtime period, RPI's Jake Marrello scored the game-winner.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Soucie extended his scoring streak to three straight games, while increasing his point streak to four.
- The score was Soucie's seventh of the year and 29th in his career.
- He now has 12 points this season and 48 total in an Army sweater.
- Bilek has dished out an assist in five in the last six contests.
- The rookie has seven helpers this season and 12 points.
- Jared Dempsey recorded 30 saves on the night.
