2019 Baseball Schedule
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point baseball, the reigning Patriot League Champions, released its 2019 schedule Monday afternoon.
The Black Knights' slate features top-tier competition, including facing three teams who qualified for NCAA Regional play last season. The schedule also has games with service-academy rivals Air Force and Navy.
Head coach Jim Foster, who is now in his third season, has compiled a 51-game schedule for his team, who earned their league-leading eighth conference crown just a season ago. That schedule consists of 18 games played in the friendly confines of Doubleday Field at Johnson Stadium.
"We have once again put together a very challenging but balanced schedule for the 2019 season," Foster said. "It will give us every opportunity to get better throughout the year and hopefully contend for another Patriot League Championship. Our schedule will challenge us early with some very tough road games before we kick off our home slate on March 20th against Hofstra.
Â
"We continue to have a great fan base here at Army, whether it's at home or away, and we look forward to seeing everyone out at the ball park again soon."
Â
The Cadets open their season down in Louisiana on Feb. 15-17, where they will face off against Air Force, LSU and UL-Monroe for three games in Alex Box Stadium at Skip Bertman Field.
Â
The following weekend the Black Knights travel to Longwood for a four-game series beginning Feb. 22.
Army will then head to USA Baseball's National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., where they will meet up with Saint Joseph's, Fairleigh Dickinson and Tulane from March 1-3.
A few days later Foster takes his team to Texas for its annual spring break trip. During that 10-game trip, the Cadets will have a three-game series at Houston and two games at Stephen F. Austin before wrapping up with three contests at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Another highlight to Army's schedule will be its annual Hudson Valley Baseball Classic showdown with Marist on April 24. That game will be played nearby at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, N.Y., home of the Hudson Valley Renegades who compete in the Class A New York-Penn League.
The Patriot League baseball format is set so that each team will play five times throughout the course of the conference slate. Army kicks off league play March 23-24 when it welcomes Bucknell and Navy for back-to-back doubleheaders.
The 2019Â Patriot League Tournament will be played over two weekends, with the semifinals scheduled for May 11-12 and the championship series slated for May 17-19. The top four seeds will qualify for the postseason tournament and games will be played at the home field of the highest seed. Both rounds will follow the best-of-three format and the winner will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.Â
NCAA regional action is scheduled for May 31-June 2, followed by the super regionals June 7-9. College baseball's national champion will be crowned in Omaha, Neb., at the College World Series on June 15-25/26.
