Black Knights Suffer Setback to RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team suffered a 4-2 setback to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) on Friday night.

The score was tied after the first and then again after the second, but two goals by the Tigers in the final stanza put the game out of reach for the Black Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT posted the first score of the game 3:48 into the contest. The Tigers came down the left side of the ice and snuck one by Army glove side high.
- Army answered back 35 seconds later. Trevor Fidler muscled the puck away from the RIT defense behind the net and got it to Marshal Plunkett.
- He fired a shot from the right circle which was initially blocked by Ian Andriano, but Michael Wilson capitalized on the loose puck and wrapped it around Andriano for the score.
- With 9:18 remaining in the second frame, the Tigers netted a power play goal to jump ahead 2-1.
- Three minutes later, Zach Evancho knotted the score yet again with a breakaway tally.
- Dalton MacAfee set up the play behind the Army net passing the puck up the boards to Colin Bilek.
- Bilek passed it off to Evancho who trailed into the RIT zone and scored high on Andriano.
- The Tigers scored two goals in the third taking a 4-2 lead with 13:52 left to play.

- Wilson netted his third goal of the season after missing three months of action.
- He now has 25 goals and 47 points in his 77 games.
- Evancho scored for the first time since Nov. 30 tonight.
- The junior posted goal number eight of the year and 19th point.
- He now boasts 29 goals in his career.
- Fidler notched helper number six this season and has now reached double-digit points with 10.
- Plunkett's assist was his second, while Bilek's was his eighth.
- MacAfee leads the Black Knights with 17 helpers and 21 points.
- It is the second straight game Bilek and MacAfee have recorded at least one point apiece.
- Jared Dempsey registered 27 saves in the deficit.
- Army was allotted two power play opportunities in the game. Â
