Army Drops Doubleheader to Yale, Cal Poly

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Day two of the Arthur Ashe Invitational saw the Army men's tennis team hit the court for two matches at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The Black Knights were defeated by Yale 4-2 in their morning contest, and also fell 4-2 in their second affair of the day to Cal Poly.

"To come in here as confident and playing as well as we have so early in the season, against three great teams, we're happy with it," said Associate Head Coach Randy Rowley. "We had a chance [to win] in all three of them. To have that opportunity to learn from some of the best teams in the country -- going into the rest of the season, we couldn't ask for a better weekend."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Army split the first two doubles matches, with the No. 44 ranked duo Myles Conlin and Nikita Larichev earning a 6-4 win at No. 1.
- The deciding doubles point came down to No. 2, with David Mitchell and David Gorshein losing a hard fought tiebreak, 7-6.
- Singles action saw Conlin and Gorshein earn victories playing at No. 1 and No. 6.

- The Black Knights showed doubles play will be a major strength of the team this season. The Cadets took two of three matches to clinch the early point.
- Army clinched two of its three doubles points during the first two days of the Arthur Ashe Invitational.
- Anant Mundra battled for a three set victory for the lone singles win for the Black Knights.
