Davis, Casanova Lead Army in Meet vs. Penn State

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point gymnastics team fell to Penn State (396.500 – 391.000), but Mathew Davis and Cole Casanova went 1-and-2 in the all-around to lead the Black Knights.
Davis turned out a career-high 80.150 to champion the meet, while Casanova registered a 79.800 as the runner up.
The Cadets set a program record on still rings today and topped Penn State on parallel bars and high bar.

- The previous standard was 66.450 and was set last February.
- Army topped Penn State on parallel bars, 62.800 – 60.900 and then on high bar 63.500 – 61.350.
- Casanova championed the parallel bars by a mark of 13.150.
- Davis notched a career-high on pommel with a 12.850 and then again on parallel bars with a 12.900.
- Career-high marks were set on floor exercise by Erik Del Cid (13.450) and Taka Giese (13.150).
- Giese matched his career-best score on vault with a 13.000 and then topped his personal best on parallel bars (12.700).

- The meet began on floor exercise and the Black Knights were led by Davis with a 14.100.
- Del Cid and Giese captured their career-highs on floor in the stretch.
- Davis posted a 12.850 on pommel for a personal best, while Liam O'Hara notched a season-high 12.650 in the event.
- A combined effort lifted Army to a program record on still rings.
- Casanova led the way with a 13.800 and was followed by Davis (13.750), Giese (13.250), Kiernan Reagan (13.200) and Mitchell Monahan (12.800).
- Alejandro Suarez garnered a team-leading 13.700 on vault. Giese captured yet another career-best when he turned in a mark of 13.000.
- Casanova championed the parallel bars with a 13.150 rating, while Davis (12.900) and Giese (12.700) had more career-highs.
- The Black Knights topped Penn State on the apparatus 62.800 – 60.900.
- Davis aced his routine on high bar for a team-leading 13.000. Casanova (12.850) and Darryl Yamamura (12.600) rounded out Army's top scores.
- Army also captured this event over the Nittany Lions 63.500 – 61.350.
