Loyola Snaps Army's Seven Game Unbeaten Streak

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Army West Point women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Loyola on the road Saturday afternoon.
The deciding goal came in the 71st minute when the Greyhounds hit a hard corner that was headed backwards to Hannah Hoefs who stepped into the shot from 10-yards out on the left side of the box. Her shot angled into the bottom left corner.
The two sides fought through an even battle on the day as they tied in shots on goal, 3-3, and corner kicks, 6-6. Army held a slight 8-6 edge in total shots. Senior co-captain Sydney Witham recorded a game-high three shots in the contest, including one on goal. The Black Knights also collected offensive chances from Emily Torres, Kayleigh Stallings, Lauryn Westman, Erynn Johns and Shannen Almenara.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Cassalia allowed her first goal in Patriot League play on the season while making two saves in the match.

First Half
- Army started fast and was the more aggressive team in the first half, holding the edge in shots (5-1) and corner kicks (5-2).
- The home side broke the scoreless tie at 70:50 when Hoefs put away a shot after the ball bounced to her following a corner kick.

- Army allowed its first goal to a Patriot League opponent since Oct. 21 when the Cadets dropped a 1-0, double-overtime decision at Holy Cross.
- The Black Knights' seven-game unbeaten streak came to an end, the longest such streak since 2011.
- Army has failed to score in both of its losses this season.
- Cassalia's streak of four-straight shutouts against league opponents marked the longest since 2010.
- The Omaha, Neb., native set a new personal bests with her 68th save of the season.
