WEST POINT, N.Y. – With just over a week until the start of the 2018-19 season, the Army West Point hockey team has been slated to finish sixth in the Atlantic Hockey Association Preseason Poll, announced by the league on Tuesday.
Â
"It is always an exciting time of year when the preseason poll comes out," said head coach Brian Riley. 'It means that the start of the season is right around the corner. Our guys have had a great preseason which started last spring. Our team has worked extremely hard in the weight room with our strength coach as well as having a great effort on the ice during the preseason. We graduated eight players that had key roles on the team for the last four seasons, but we also have guys who are ready to step up and are looking forward to their opportunity to impact this program. We are very excited about the upcoming season."

Air Force, the reigning AHA Champions, were first in the poll with seven first-place votes and 97 total points. Canisius garnered the other four first-place votes and 92 points. Robert Morris (66), Mercyhurst (65) and AIC (60) were also in the top five.
Â
Army was voted sixth and totaled 55 points. RIT (49), Holy Cross (40), Bentley (31), Sacred Heart (29) and Niagara (21) closed-out the poll.
