Army Topped by Bucknell on Senior Night

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team fell to Bucknell, 75-55, in a Patriot League contest on Wednesday night at Christl Arena.
The Black Knights (16-13, 9-9 Patriot League), were led offensively by Janae McNeal's team-best 14-point effort. Aliyah Murray and Madison Hovren added eight points apiece, while Daizjah Morris chipped in with six against the Bison (21-8, 15-3 Patriot League).
With the loss, Army will be headed to Bethlehem, Pa., on Monday to take on Lehigh in the Patriot League Tournament Quarterfinals.

- The Black Knights honored seniors Margaret Anne Hubbell, Lena' Hicks, Janae McNeal, Daizjah Morris, Destinee Morris and Aliyah Murray prior to the start of the game.
- McNeal extended her double-digit scoring streak to 10 games.
- Destinee Morris claimed sole possession of sixth place in career 3-pointers made in program history with 113. She was previously tied with Christine Gassman '03.
- Army reeled in 15 offensive rebounds, marking the 28th time in 29 outings that the team recorded double-digit offensive boards.
- Julia Gibbs made her first career 3-pointer.
- Jess Lewis tallied five or more assists for the third time this season and fourth time in her career.
- Army forced 20 Bucknell turnovers and put in 19 points off of the Bison's miscues.
- The Cadets had 26 bench points, tying the fifth-most this season by the Black Knights.
- Army put up 22 points on 50-percent shooting in the final quarter of play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bucknell's hot start to the night began in the opening quarter, when the team shot 6-for-9 (67 percent) from the field, compared to Army's 21-percent shooting. Despite turning the ball over seven times in the opening frame, the Bison took an 18-10 advantage into the ensuing quarter of play.
- The Bison turned in another efficient frame, making over 50 percent of its shots. It was a six-point game, 20-14, before Bucknell outscored the Black Knights 13-6 in the final 5:13 of the half.
- After being held to two points in the first half, McNeal began to find the bottom of the basket and scored seven points in the third quarter. She scored the first basket of the new half and a Hovren layup followed to bring the score within nine, 33-24. However, with 8:35 remaining, Bucknell went on a 14-3 run to push its lead to 20, 47-27. The Cadets responded with six-unanswered points, but the Bison still held a commanding 17-point lead entering the final quarter.
- The fourth was a back-and-forth high-scoring battle between both sides. Army and Bucknell combined for 47 points on 57 percent shooting from the field. The Black Knights went 4-for-4 to start the quarter, but the Bison seemed to always have an answer. The deficit got as low as 16, 55-39, before Bucknell closed out strong en route to the league win.
