Army Caps Non-League Slate with Home Win

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team wrapped up its non-league slate with a 74-48 victory over Connecticut College at Christl Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Black Knights offense was clicking from the opening tip, producing a season high 46.7 percent field goal percentage (28-of-60). Forward Madison Hovren posted a game-high 27 points on 12-of-20 shooting in the fifth 20-point game of her senior campaign. The Spokane, Wash., native added a game-high 16 rebounds as she collected her ninth double-double of the year.
Jess Lewis dished out a game-high five assists, while Taylor Sullivan and Libby Tacka recorded the only two blocks of the contest. Morgann Yancey earned a game-high three steals.
Three Army players posted career highs in scoring as Sarah Bohn (11 points), Sullivan (9 points) and Julia Gibbs (4 points) all achieved personal-bests.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- The Black Knights offense got off to a fast start as a trey from Yancey and a jumper from Tacka gave the home squad a 5-2 edge 1:20 into the contest.
- Army capped the opening stanza with an 11-0 run through the final 3:35, led by Hovren's 10 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the floor.
- The home side continued their success on the offensive end of the floor as the Cadets shot 57.1 percent from the floor in the second quarter on 8-of-14 shooting.
- Sullivan contributed a team-high eight points in the period on 3-of-3 shooting.
- The two sides traded blows before the Camels went on a 9-1 run in the final 1:34 of the frame.
- The Camels made all three of their attempts from long-range over that stretch, including a pair from Meggie Corcoran.
- The Black Knights went on a 13-4 run over the first half of the final period with six different players scoring in that span.
- Army closed out the game with 19 points in the fourth quarter and outrebounded Connecticut College, 17-4.
