Army's Team Effort Halts St. Francis Brooklyn

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point women's basketball team saw four players score in double figures as the Black Knights downed St. Francis Brooklyn, 69-57, on Wednesday night at Christl Arena.
The Black Knights halted a four-game skid with the win. Madison Hovren led Army with 16 points and 10 rebounds for her 37th career double-double. Libby Tacka tied a career high with 15 points and added six rebounds and only committed one turnover. Alisa Fallon added her first double-digit scoring game of the season with 11 points, while Jess Lewis had 10 points and dished out five assists.
Jade Johnson tallied a game high 25 points for St. Francis Brooklyn, while Ebony Horton added 11 for the visitors. The Terriers came into the game averaging 90 points per game and were held to a season-low 57 points.

- This was the 17th all-time meeting between Army and St. Francis Brooklyn with the first meeting coming in 1990.
- Army leads the series at 14-3 and is 8-1 at home against the Terriers.
- Rookie Alisa Fallon made her second collegiate start for Army, while classmate Kate Murray made her third consecutive start.
- Hovren joined the top 10 in career scoring with 16 points and now has 1,246 points in her career.
- Hovren is now tied for second all-time in double-doubles with Erin Anthony '07.
- Hovren has reached double digits in 5-of-6 games in 2018-19.
- With the 10 rebounds in the game, Hovren moves into eighth place all-time in career rebounds with 757.
- Tacka last scored 15 points in a game against Dartmouth on Nov. 29, 2017 at home.
- Fallon scored a season high 11 points.
- Jessica Rawls added a career high seven rebounds to go along with six points.
- The Black Knights outrebounded the Terriers 44-40 and scored 40 of its 69 points in the paint. Army also scored 22 points off of 22 turnovers by St. Francis Brooklyn.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
- St. Francis built up a 9-4 lead with Johnson hitting one of her two threes in the quarter, but Army went on a 9-3 run thanks to five points from Fallon to take an 11-9 lead.
- The teams traded buckets throughout the rest of the quarter, but Army was able to take a four-point lead into the second quarter at 21-17.
- Fallon and Murray led the Black Knights with six points.
SECOND QUARTER
- The teams cooled down a bit in the second quarter and Army held a 29-27 lead at the half.
- St. Francis Brooklyn tied the game early in the second and then Army built a 27-21 lead with Maddie Allen hitting a jumper with 4:13 left in the frame.
- The Terriers answered with Johnson scoring four points and Horton adding a layup to knot the game at 27-27 with 1:17 on the clock.
- Army set up a nice play down the stretch and Tacka sunk a lay-up with four seconds left as Army had the two-point advantage after 20 minutes of play.
THIRD QUARTER
- Johnson got the Terriers back in the game with five points in the first 1:16 of the quarter to give the visitors a 32-29 lead.
- Army answered with a Jessica Rawls' lay-in and a 3-pointer by Lewis to gain a 34-32 advantage with 7:24 on the clock.
- The teams played evenly through the rest of the quarter and it was a 44-44 game heading into the final frame.
- Tacka led the Black Knights with four of her 15 on the night in the quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Army opened the final period with an 11-4 run in the first six minutes to open up a 55-48 lead. Lewis had four of the 11 points during the run.
- Horton hit a three to make it a four-point game at 55-51 and then Army answered with a 9-0 run to build its largest lead at 64-51. Hovren tallied four points and Tacka had three during the advantage.
- St. Francis Brooklyn couldn't recover the late run and Army won 69-57.
