WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team fell to Niagara Friday night by a score of 3-1.

The Purple Eagles netted two goals in the second stanza followed by an empty netter in the third. The Black Knights scored with 1:21 remaining when Mason Krueger found the back of the net in the final score of the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alex Wilkinson saw a close opportunity 10:20 into the game, but hit the pipe so the score remained knotted at 0-0.
- The Purple Eagles scored a pair of goals in the second stanza to go ahead by two.
- Army pulled its netminder with just two minutes remaining and Niagara was able to score to make it 3-0.
- Twenty one seconds later, Krueger got the Black Knights on the board after Daniel Haider and Brendan Soucie worked together to force the puck around the back of the cage.
- Krueger was in the right place at the right time as he tapped it in past Brian Wilson.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Krueger posted his third goal of the year tonight and fifth in his career.
- The junior now totals seven points this season and 12 overall.
- Soucie notched his third helper of the year and 17th total in an Army sweater.
- He has now recorded seven points this year as well.
- Haider had his second assist of the season tonight.
- Jared Dempsey made 29 saves in net.
- Niagara held a slight advantage in shots, 32-28, tonight.
