HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
- Senior Lauryn Westman had an early chance in the 13th minute when she dribbled around a defender and fired a shot from 15 yards out. The shot was headed for the back post, but a Holy Cross defender came out to defend and deflected the shot.
- Cassalia came up with a big stop early as she extended fully on a shot from 25-yards out by Seslija.
- Army came out of the break firing offensively, tallying five of its eight shots in the first five minutes of the period.
- Capping that run was sophomore Erynn Johns who took a through ball at the top of the box and connected on a one-time shot that goalkeeper Sophia Lettieri kicked away.
- The Black Knights had another quality chance with just more than 11 minutes remaining when a collision between Johns and Lettiera deflected the ball to sophomore Emily Torres who took a touch before booting the ball into the open net, but the referee had already blew his whistle to end the play and tend to the injured players.
- Barnes dribbled from the top of the box to her right and took a shot that forced Cassalia off her feet to make the save. After diving to her right, the rebound landed directly in front of Seslija who put the ball into the vacated net.
