STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Army West Point gymnastics team completed its first dual of the year with a 407.600-384.100 deficit to No. 7 Penn State.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- The Black Knights exceled on the vault today with a team score of 67.300. It was the highest event score of the evening.
- Army improved by 2.150 points from last weekend on the parallel bars and turned out a 64.900 tonight.
- The team also increased marks on the still rings with a 64.300.
- Elliott Herman had another stand out meet as he championed the floor exercise with a 14.000 for a career-high mark.
- The performance ranks third in Army's records from the past two seasons with Herman on the team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nathan Goff and Matthew Martin were Army's top finishers on the pommel horse. The pair turned out scores of 13.250 to tie for fourth.
- Ryan Wilson (12.950), Taka Giese (12.900) and Elliott Herman (12.900) led the way for the Black Knights on rings.
- On vault it was Seth Cannon who received top marks for the Cadets with a 13.950. Cole Casanova and Ryan Wilson trailed closely behind with marks of 13.750 and 13.600, respectively.
- The parallel bars saw Penn State with the top-four finishers, but Goff led Army with a 13.500, while Alejandro Tombrink (13.250) and Nick McAfee (13.200) trailed.
- Casanova broke into the top-four on high bar with a 13.200.
UP NEXT
- The Black Knights return to Lou Grosse next Friday for a matchup with Air Force at 6 p.m.
