Game Notes: Black Knights Back at Michie

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point football team returns to Michie Stadium for the first time in a couple of weeks as the Black Knights welcome UTEP to West Point for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
The game is set to be live on CBS Sports Network and also on the Army Sports Network.

THE OPENING KICKOFF
• The Black Knights are looking to rebound following a pair of losses away from Michie Stadium, with their most recent a tough 21-17 loss Saturday at Tulane.
• The Miners come into Saturday's showdown with a 0-4 mark on the year, including a loss at New Mexico State in their last outing.
• Junior fullback Andy Davidson stepped into the starting role and was in his 2016 form with a career-high 130 yards rushing on 26 carries at Tulane.
• The Black Knights finished with 371 yards on the ground against the Green Wave with 118 in the third quarter alone.
• Army took a 17-14 lead late in the game with a 15-play drive that ended with sophomore fullback Connor Slomka's first career touchdown. But Tulane answered with a 19-play drive, keeping its hopes alive with three fourth down conversions to earn the 21-17 win.
• The Black Knights have lost back-to-back games for the first time since dropping contests against Air Force and Notre Dame last season. Army responded with three-straight wins to close the year.
ARMY-UTEP SERIES HISTORY
• This is the second meeting all-time between Army and UTEP.
• The two teams will be facing off at Michie Stadium for the first time.
• The Black Knights won the first game in the series last year with a dominating 66-14 victory in week three of 2016.
• Army ran for 424 yards and passed for 174 for a total of 598 yards and compiled eight touchdowns with seven by way of the ground attack.
ABOUT THE MINERS
• UTEP comes into Saturday's game with an 0-4 mark and has given up over 47 points per game through the first four contests of the season.
• The Miners dropped a 41-14 decision in the battle of I-10 at New Mexico State on Saturday.
• UTEP's offense has struggled with an average of just 210 yards of offense, with most of that coming through the air.
• Quarterbacks Ryan Metz, Mark Torrez and Kavika Johnson have played in all four games, while Zack Greenlee has also seen action, including a start.
• Walter Dawn Jr. is the leading rusher with 78 yards in four games, while Quardraiz Wadley is second with 77 yards on the ground. The Miners have a total of four rushing touchdowns with two by Metz.
• Terry Juniel is the top receiver with 108 yards on eight catches and averages 13.5 yards per catch.
• On the defensive side, Alvin Jones is the leading tackler with 31 total stops. As a team the Miners have 15 tackles for loss, four sacks and an interception.

• The Black Knights pride themselves on having a "next man up" mentality and Army needed it Saturday with Darnell Woolfolk sidelined.
• Davidson's number was called to help lead the Army offense and he came up with a career-high 130 yards on 26 carries.
• He had a long rush of 42 yards in the second quarter, allowing Army to take its first lead at Tulane with Bradshaw finding paydirt from one-yard out.
• Calen Holt chipped in with a solid 49 yards, which was a career best, while Slomka was a fresh runner on Army's final drive.
• Slomka ended up with 32 yards on eight carries and picked up a key first down on 4th-and-1 from the 8-yard line before later driving into the end zone for his first career touchdown.
CLIMBING THE RANKINGS
• Senior quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw started off his final campaign with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games against Fordham and Buffalo.
• He now ranks third among quarterbacks in Army history with seven 100-yard rushing games in his career.
• Bradshaw is now 17th all-time in career rushing yards with 1,731 after 65 at Tulane.
• The Chicago native passed College Football Hall of Famer and 1945 Heisman Trophy winner Felix "Doc" Blanchard on Saturday at Tulane.
• He has passed Army greats Rollie Stichweh, Collin Mooney and Ronnie McAda just this year alone.
• Bradshaw is 23 yards away from Tommy Bell, who is 16th on the list with 1,754 yards.
• Gil Stephenson is 15th all-time with 1,861 yards on the ground.

• With his sixth 100-yard rushing game of his career on Saturday, Davidson is now tied for 14th all-time.

• He has played a total of 17 games at fullback after playing his rookie season at linebacker.
• Davidson has 1,168 career rushing yards, a 5.1 yards per carry average and 13 rushing touchdowns.

GETTING IN THE BACKFIELD
• Alex Aukerman has been the best defender this season for the Black Knights at getting in the backfield.
• He has continued to disrupt offenses and has three sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss in four games so far this year.
• He is a hybrid-type of defensive player that can play outside linebacker, but can also rush the passer from the defensive line position.
• Aukerman finished with three tackles for loss, including a sack at Tulane and he has at least one sack in three of Army's four games.
