Army Closes Out Day One of Shootout

West Point, N.Y.- The Army West Point men's tennis team wrapped up day one of the West Point Shootout from the Lichtenberg Tennis Center and Malek Courts Saturday afternoon.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
In the first flight, Seniors Michael Nguyen and Greg Shannon defeated NJIT's Jan Cimrman and Zac Castagna 6-3.
Nguyen also clinched a victory in singles play against NJIT's Tomi Antoljak in two sets, 6-4, 6-2. He later defeated St. John's Luke Susevic in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
Additionally, it was successful day for the underclassmen, after Freshman Will Ockerman defeated NJIT's George Sirensen and earned his first-career victory. Myles Conlin and Dylan Simonsen also recorded a win in doubles play against Fairfield's Brad Orban and Lewis Edwards, 6-4.
Lastly, in the sixth flight, Anant Mundra took down St. John's Frederico Ruiz in three sets, 7-6, 7-2, 6-3.
Matches will resume on Sunday at 9 a.m. as Army hosts Fairfield at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Black Knights are also set to battle St. Johns at 10:30 a.m.
