Army Defeates Lafayette; Advances to Semifinals

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Army West Point men's tennis team takes down Lafayette, 4-0, in the Patriot League tournament quarterfinal match on Friday.

With the win the Black Knights advanced to the semi-final match tomorrow at 10 a.m., in the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis, Md. They will take on the winner of the #4 Boston University and #5 Colgate match that takes place today at 10:30 a.m.

The scoring rally started in the doubles matches as Sam Lampman and Gregory Shannon brought down Mason Keel and Matthew DeBenedetto 6-2 at the No. 2 flight. Michael Sienko and David Mitchell sealed the doubles point with a 6-0 sweep at the No. 3 position.

In singles, senior Grant Riechmann added a point with a straight set victory at the No. 2 flight. Mitchell gained another with a 6-1, 6-0 sweep at the No. 3 position, and Nikita Perverzin sealed the match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 flight.

The winner of the semifinal match will face off against the winner of the lower bracket which includes #3 Lehigh, #6 Bucknell, #2 Navy and #7 Loyola. The championship match will be at 1 p.m., on Sunday.
