ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MEET NOTES
- Nathan Goff and Seth Cannon were among a select group of three individual qualifiers in their respective events to advance.
- Goff had a 14.050 on parallel bars to move forward, while Cannon recorded a season-high score on floor exercise (14.200).
- Leo Genders' best score of the night was on vault where he notched a 14.250.
- Grant Cullen had a standout score on the parallel bars for the Black Knights with a 13.400.
- Elliott Herman notched a 13.200 performance on still rings to cap-off the night for Army. Other Cadets competing were Alejandro Tombrink, Brandon Shively and Andre Hufnagel.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Goff was up first on the floor exercise as he was paired with the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners. He posted an even 13.000 to kick off the evening session.
- Genders kicked things off from the vault with a 14.250 to mark the sixth score over 14.000 this season.
- In the next round, Goff competed on pommel horse where he posted an 11.850, while Cannon earned a score of 11.700 on high bar.
- Cullen had a standout routine on the parallel bars for the Black Knights with a 13.400.
- Cannon then exceled on the floor exercise and turned out a season-high 14.200, the first time achieving marks over 14.000 this season, to finish in a three-way tie for eighth to advance to Saturday's individual finals.
- Goff recorded a 13.650 on still rings in the third rotation as Tombrink had an 11.500 on pommel horse.
- Genders' high bar career came to a close when his wrist guard snapped on his first revolution around the bar. He bounced back though with a 13.300 on floor exercise.
- Also in the fourth rotation was Shively (10.950) on pommel horse and Goff competed to a 13.850 on vault.
- The all-arounder (Goff) then notched a night-high of 14.050 on parallel bars tie for 12th among 36 competitors in that event to qualify for Saturday's individual finals and vie for All-America honors.
- Wilson made his first appearance of the night when he posted a 12.850 on still rings and Hufnagel tallied an 11.650 performance.
- Goff capped off the night with a mark of 13.500 on high bar which gave him an all-around score of 79.900 to rank fourth on the day, just missing the cutoff (top three) to advance to Saturday.
- Herman recorded a 13.200 on still rings and Wilson added marks of 13.300 on vault to close-out the second session for Army.
